Anthem pulls it Medicare Advantage Plan


Anthem serves nearly 28,000 Medicare Advantage (MA) members in 42 Virginia counties and cities, primarily in the central and southeastern parts of the
Commonwealth.*
On or before Oct. 1, approximately 93 percent of these members will receive notice that their plans are not being renewed.

Impacted areas include the following: City of Richmond, Chesterfield, Henrico, Albemarle, Charles City, City of Charlottesville, City of Chesapeake, City of Colonial
Heights, Dinwiddie, Montgomery, New Kent, City of Newport News, City of Norfolk, Northampton, Northumberland, Orange, City of Petersburg, City of Poquoson, City
of Portsmouth, Fluvanna, Goochland, Hanover, City of Hopewell, Louisa, Middlesex, Powhatan, Prince George, Pulaski, City of Virginia Beach, Gloucester, Hampton
City, Mathews, James City, King and Queen, Lancaster, Richmond, Roanoke, Roanoke City, Salem City, Suffolk City, Williamsburg City and York.

Anthem is introducing new plans in 16 of the counties and cities that it is departing, including three cities and / or counties with access to the innovative CareMore health
delivery system in the Richmond area (the City of Richmond and parts of Henrico and Chesterfield counties).

Other counties and cities with new LPPO plans are as follows: Gloucester, Hampton City, Mathews, James City, King and Queen, Lancaster, Richmond, Roanoke,
Roanoke City, Salem City, Suffolk City, Williamsburg City and York.

Additionally, Anthem is extending coverage to Surry County for the first time.

26 counties will not get a new Anthem MA plan. They are as follows: Albemarle, Charles City, City of Charlottesville, City of Chesapeake, City of Colonial Heights,
Dinwiddie, Montgomery, New Kent, City of Newport News, City of Norfolk, Northampton, Northumberland, Orange, City of Petersburg, City of Poquoson, City of
Portsmouth, Fluvanna, Goochland, Hanover, City of Hopewell, Louisa, Middlesex, Powhatan, Prince George, Pulaski, City of Virginia Beach.

When these moves are complete, about 40 percent of impacted members will have the opportunity to choose a new Anthem MA plan. They also can purchase an Anthem
Medicare Supplement plan.

About 60 percent will have no Anthem MA choice. They can purchase an Anthem Medicare Supplement plan (with more robust coverage at a higher cost) or seek a MA
plan from an Anthem competitor.

It’s important to note that members may have a different network of providers and/or different benefit structure when switching from previous plan
